I was listening to a sermon the other day where a preacher reminded us that you can’t judge a story by a scene. But, isn’t that what we all do?
And before long we allow those scenes to…Write our story. To change our story. To change our future.
Don’t get stuck in the scenes.
Joseph was in the pit.
He was in prison.
He was betrayed.
But, that is not where he stayed. That was only the beginning. Not his whole story.
Joseph went from:
The Pit to the Palace.
From Prison to Potiphar.
From Potiphar to Pharaoh.
From famine to feast, where he fed a famine stricken land.
What if Joseph had stayed in the pit? In prison? Crippled by betrayal and false accusations?
What if Joseph had stopped believing? Had sought revenge or retribution from his brothers and others who sold him out?
What if we stop believing?
What if we seek revenge and anger as our allies?
What then?
We become caught in a trap and we may as well be in the pit…like Joseph. But, Joseph got out. Maybe not the way he wanted. Maybe we get out, but not the way we wanted.
It’s still a scene, not your story. Your beginning, not your end.
You cannot judge what God is going to do in the future by what is happening right now.
Keep going. Your story is just beginning. There is so much more yet to be written.
