Sometimes all it takes is a different perspective to change your view of things.
And, sometimes changing your perspective is the hardest thing you can do.
The mind is an incredible thing, a master machine that seems to never turn off. A human computer that stores all your life events, all your triumphs and tragedies, all your joys and sorrows on a hard drive that can be accessed at any time.
Maybe it’s a smell or a memory, a word or a sound, maybe a special place or event, all are etched firmly in the recesses of our mind.
How we think determines how we will be…but it doesn’t have to determine WHO we will be.
The sum of your life events are not who you are.
Yes, they shape us and influence us and can redirect us and even send us off course, but the heart is the seat of the soul.
Sometimes, all it takes is a shift in direction, a change in perception, a different reaction to see the world…and yourself…in a new way.
But, no one said that shift would be easy. Your pattern of thinking and responses are channeled deep like a well-worn path you have traversed a million times.
It reminds me of the movie, Twister, when the truck gets stuck in the ditch, the tornado is on their tail, and the banks of the ditch keep getting higher and higher. We all get stuck in a rut sometimes.
It’ll take effort to jump out and over the banks, to plot a new trail and plow a new path, but your mind is a funny thing. It can be re-trained. And, when you turn off the old record player and forge new roads, the old tunes dancing in your head start to fade.
Sometimes, changing your perspective is all you need to be on top of the world.
Today, choose a different path…the road less traveled…and watch your mind open up to new possibilities , dreams to be dreamed, and a life that’s been waiting to be lived
