There’s a very specific place and void only you can fill. But, it’s up to you to step up and step in.
Why do some of us shrink back when we should be forging ahead?
. Fear
. Rejection
. Failure
. Success
Yes, even fear of success can thwart us on our paths. Maybe the seven deadly sins should be fear, failure, procrastination, ridicule, regret, pride, and shame. Anything that stops you, paralyzes you, diverts you and distracts you brings death into your life.
When did we all start existing instead of living? Where did our courage go?
I recently watched Hacksaw Ridge and was so moved by Desmond Doss’s unwavering faith and courage in the face of seemingly impossible odds. Where did he find this depth of character and courage and determination?
When everyone else was telling him to quit, when everyone else was taunting him and begging him to betray who he was, he held firm. No matter what. He held.
And how many lives were saved because of his unfailing faith and fortitude?
How many lives can we save if we just had the faith and conviction like Doss?
It is in the exact moment when everyone else has given up, turned back, or given in, believing the fight is lost, that we need to step up and step in.
Who knows, we might just turn the tide, we might just save a life, we might just become who we are supposed to be.
Private Doss was asked why he couldn’t just pick up the rifle. Most think it’s because “the Lord says thou shall not kill,” and that’s part of it. But Private Doss also said, “I can’t be somebody I’m not. It’s who I am.”
How many of us talk about our beliefs as something separate from our souls? And how many of us talk about what we believe, instead of who we are.
Who are you?
